Lockdown 4.0: UT plans relaxations from May 18
These Will Follow MHA Guidelines

While the Union government has hinted at opening of economic activities in the lockdown 4.0, the Chandigarh administration also plans to give some more relaxations, as per guidelines of the ministry of home affairs .

Sources said the UT administration is planning to end the even-odd system for opening of internal markets from May 18. Senior UT officers are also considering opening the computer and mobile repair market, but with some conditions. These markets are on the sector dividing roads, which are presently not allowed to open. The home delivery of food is also under consideration, sources added.

A senior UT officer said they were expecting home ministry guidelines on lockdown extension and may come out with a list of activities that would be barred rather than those allowed in red zones. They are waiting for the MHA guidelines, as Chandigarh being a union territory is governed by it, he added. He said they were also preparing a proposal for further relaxations, which would be approved by UT administrator VP Singh Badnore. The UT is also waiting for the Punjab and Haryana high court’s instructions as a public interest litigation is pending, the officer added. Sources said malls, barber shops and salon may remain closed during lockdown 4.0 as Chandigarh falls under red zone. The public dealing at important government offices, RLA, e-sampark centres and some other offices of UT administration and the municipal corporation, is likely to open from May 18
