AMRITSAR : The installation of steel railings in place of iron fences at the sarovar of the Golden Temple was completed on Monday, the sewa of which was being done by Baba Pardeep Singh Borewal Badhni.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Gobind Singh Longowal said iron bars had to be repainted after a few months to maintain them.
“The service of replacing the railings was started on November 18, after prayers, which has been completed on Monday. Instead of iron, steel bars have been prepared and installed now and about 15 tonnes of steel has been used on these services,” Longowal said, adding that the nets used for drainage of water in the processions have also been replaced.
Longowal and Giani Jagtar Singh, chief granthi of the Golden Temple, lauded the service rendered by Baba Pradeep Singh and honoured him
