Chandigarh:
Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday ruled out a state quota in jobs for the youth on the lines of Haryana. He said the decision of the Haryana government would not stand judicial scrutiny.
The chief minister was responding to questions posed by the youth during Sunday’s edition of #AskCaptain.
On being asked why his government could not follow the Haryana model in this regard as mostly outsiders were getting jobs in Punjab, Captain Amarinder said the Constitution and the law barred any such discrimination in the matter of jobs. The CM pointed out that Punjabis were employed all over the country, with no restrictions by any state. “We cannot stop youth from other states taking up jobs in Punjab,” he said, adding that he did not believe Haryana’s decision could be upheld in the courts.
Asked about the UP encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey, Captain Amarinder said while he could not comment on the issue, the Congress was right in demanding an inquiry. The truth needs to be revealed, he added
