New Delhi : The Supreme Court has recalled its 2019 order which had paved way for higher pension for employees by removing the current salary ceiling of ₹15,000. An SC bench, headed by Justice Uday U Lalit, allowed the review petitions filed by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and decided to reconsider the previous order that permitted grant of PF pension proportionate to the salary. The bench, which also included Justices Hemant Gupta and S Ravindra Bhat, jointly heard the EPFO’s review petition and the appeal filed by the Centre on January 29. The court order was released a day ago.
Starting February 25, the bench will re-examine the 2018 Kerala HC judgement, which had asked the organisation to pay full pension to retiring employees on the basis of their total salary instead of capping the amount at ₹15,000 per month.
