New Delhi : Delhi added another 7,546 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases and 98 deaths linked to the viral illness on Thursday, taking its cumulative infections to over 510,600 and toll to more than 8,000, according to data from the government’s daily health bulletin.
The Capital, which is in the grip of a third wave of infections, has scaled up testing levels as part of its response to the recent surge in cases.
In the previous 24-hours, laboratories across Delhi conducted 62,437 tests and reported a positivity rate – the percentage of samples testing positive for Covid-19 – at 12.09%, a level that indicates the widespread transmission of the virus. In the week ending November 14, Delhi recorded previously unseen levels of new cases, and daily fatalities have hovered close to 100 a day. On Wednesday, Delhi recorded its highest ever fatalities (131) for a single day.
