Ravinderjit is first Sikh woman to join New Zealand air force
Phagura brought laurels for the Punjabi community settled in Wellington where she belongs to. Her parents Gurpal Singh and Manveer Kaur hail from Hoshiarpur, according to media reports.

Phagura completed her schooling from Sacred Heart Lower Hutt and graduation from Victoria University, Wellington. She was also a cadet in the New Zealand air force.

In April 2018, Phagura took admission for training to enter the air force. She completed her graduation in December last year and became the first woman from Punjab to enter Air Force New Zealand. She has been assigned the duty of a supply officer where she is supposed to maintain the records and other official works.
