Clear stand on Capt Abhimanyu’s claim on SYL: Randhawa
CHANDIGARH: Punjab cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Thursday dared the leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to clear its stand on Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu Singh’s claim that the Haryana government would complete the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal.

Captain Abhimanyu is BJP Punjab in-charge and the SAD is a coalition partner in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP that runs the government at the Centre.

Terming the statement of Captain Abhimanyu as inimical to the interests of Punjab, Randhawa questioned that how was the minister making such a claim.

He reiterated that the SYL canal would spell doom for the farming community in Punjab.

Launching an attack on the Akali leadership, Randhawa said, “The SAD is selling Punjab’s interests for narrow political gains by being partners with the BJP.”

Clarifying that the Congress would oppose Captain Abhimanyu, Randhawa asked the Akalis to come clean on whether they were willing to be collaborators with a party, whose leader was keen on the SYL canal
