Paswans Mum Over Dalit Issues
Two Dalit issues -attacks on Dalits in Gujarat and derogatory remark against Mayawati by a UP BJP leader -generated a lot of heat in Parliament last week. Yet, two Dalit leaders on NDA benches -Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag -were conspicuously quiet in Lok Sabha when the House witnessed agitated scenes over these `Dalit issues'.

National Museum Head Soon

It appears the National Museum may finally get a full-time head after over a decade. The selection process is in the final stages and in the fray are former ASI additional DG and archeologist BR Mani and Anupa Pande of the National Museum Institute.

All Eyes on Chowdhury and Badal

Many ruling and Opposition MPs are expecting a tit-for-tat floor show between two fiery women lawmakers this week. After SAD minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal led the protest in Rajya Sabha over Bhagwant Mann video issue and forced an adjournment of the House on Friday afternoon, Congress' Renuka Chowdhury let out her anger, in her typical style. This has made many fellow MPs to eagerly look forward to a live Badal-Chowdhury face-off in the House.Hope, no game-spoiling truce, over the weekend.

Interactions Should be Need-based

Don't over-emphasise on attendance in unscheduled seminars at Vigyan Bhawan and let there not be too much focus on disposal of file-work -this was the feedback given by DoPT to the Cabinet Secretary, before the 170-odd IAS officers of the 2014 batch begin their three-month special stint as `assistant secretaries' with the Centre from August 1.The interactions with eminent persons to be arranged for these officers every Friday must be carefully selected, it has been decided.
